Traditions followed in New year
Hi guys ! Wish you all a happy new year.May this year brings you happiness, progress and prosperity. Let's read some unique traditions of various countries that is followed in the occassion of New Year.1. SPAIN
In Spain, there is tradition of eating 12 grapes at once. People believe that following this tradition, they will be blessed with happiness for upcoming whole year.
This tradition was started since 1909 A.D. During this year there was great production of grapes in the country and the King made to distribute the grapes to all citizens on the occassion of New Year . Hence, the tradition started.
2. BRAZIL
In Brazil on the day of new year, people throw white flowers in the ocean. Some people also throw their perfumes, lipsticks, jewellery, combs etc. They use to follow this tradition as they treat throwing activity as offerings to the goddess of ocean and wish for her blessings .
3. DENMARK
In Denmark, there is a tradition of throwing old utensils infront of the friends and neighbours during night of new year. It is believed that next morning , when u find more broken utensils infront of house entrance, the better faith and destiny you will get this new year.
4.SCOTLAND
People here takes man with long height and fair complexion as good luck. Therefore, people wish that the first guest to come in the house during new year could passed this requirement so that the whole year will bring good luck to them.
5. SOUTH KOREA
In this country , people welcomes new year by ringing the bells at temple and monasteries.
6. JAPAN
The tradition is similar to South Korea . Slightly difference is that the bell is rang for 108 times .
